Review: Die For Me

Today's review goes to the brilliant Die For Me written by even more brilliant Amy Plum.

GoodReads blurb:

In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

In this incandescent debut, newcomer Amy Plum has created a powerful paranormal mythology with immortal revenants. The Paris setting comes enchantingly alive as a relentless struggle between good and evil takes place in its streets. Rich with romance, atmosphere, and thrills, Die for Me will leave readers breathlessly awaiting its sequel.

Personal opinion:

Where to begin?

The story was unique, the characters brilliant, the Paris descriptions totally sucked me in. I want to visit Paris even more than before. Sigh.

I can't deny, this is one of my new favorites.
Kate and her sister move in with their grandparents in Paris after their parents die in a car accident. There, Kate doesn't even try to adjust and get over her grief. Until her sister finally persuates her to go out. And then comes Vincent. *smile*

I really liked their relationship. The time they spent together was brilliantly written and made me stare into the book with dreamy eyes, and, you know, I did do that.
The other characters, like Jules, were a great and funny addition to the story. Though some other characters were just eviiil. I did not like the bad guys, but who does?
The end was nerve wrecking. Almost made me scream a couple of times. I think that Amy gave us a new and fresh novel, filled with all kinds of emotions and a heroine to who you can relate to in a way that you feel her emotions and think what she thought. And, of course, that is a great thing about an author! So, Amy, if you're reading this, well, well done! :)The ending was, after *that thing which I cannot spoil*, so beautiful and sweet! Also, the cover... I think the cover is one of my three fav covers EVER! Especially since I adooore red color and you can also see the Eiffel Tower in the distance and those black lines that spread around Kate... just GORGEOUS.

Overall, I think this is a must-read. Go pick up a copy now!
5 stars. (though I wish I could give it more)

I'm looking forward to the sequel, Until I Die, sooo very much! :D
